The Advertising industry in Nigeria has been called upon to develop concepts that truly tell the relatable stories of Nigeria with the aim of projecting the country.

CEO of Noah’s Ark Communication, Lanre Adisa while speaking at the Industry Evening With Goddie Ofose with the Theme “Advertising and the power of the Nigerian story” held at Sheraton hotel and towers, Ikeja Lagos pointed out that if we as Nigerians and advertising experts do not tell our story, someone else will tell it but in a way that may not suit us as a people.

Adisa mentioned that “advertising starts from the mindset, it could be intentional thinking or unintentional (the subconscious) because advertising is an embodiment of who we are as a people”

“Advertisement is an opportunity so experts should tell relatable stories, stories that will not only get the people’s attention but also get their love”

Adisa also challenged young people to think of how to stand out through advertisement instead of relying on salary.

The CEO Noah’s ark communication highlighted that whoever can control what people think of their country has the real power but at this point, we struggle with how to sell ourselves (Nigeria) well enough. “Tribalism and differences in culture has caused so many problems in seeking a particular ground that drives us as a nation” He said it is the job of advertising experts to close this tribal gap.

Convener of the event and Brands Journalist, Goddie Ofose stated that the event had been a dream come true for him because he sees this as an opportunity to give back and impact the industry that has nurtured and groomed him to be what he is today.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Mr Gboyega Akosile commended Mr Goddie Ofose for coming up with an event that brought together people of like minds and other personalities with interest in Advertising and Marketing. He also emphasized the need to tell the stories that resonates with the people so as to achieve the desired results of positivity and acceptance.
