As poverty continues to bite hard on citizens coupled with the devastating effects of the Covid19 pandemic especially on women who fall into the category of widows and single mothers, Brisa women’s foundation, a body that empowers single mothers and indigent widows with 0% soft loans for farming, Agriculture and petty trade brought women together to feed and empower them during the Christmas period.
The event took place at Izuoha Amuzi, Ahiazu Mbaise in Imo state.
Convener and Founder of the NGO, Delphine Onyinye Nwachukwu said this is the 6th edition of the event and “for every event we organize, we cloth and feed them, we also do medical outreach for women and men yearly.
“This year we gave them Wrappers, Groceries, they got medication and some of them had a routine medical checkup.
According to Ms. Nwachukwu, 20 women have so far been empowered since the Brisa Women’s Foundation started the empowerment exercise.
She called on Corporate organision and the Imo state government to support the initiative of the Brisa Women’s Foundation to empower women to set up businesses they can run and earn a living from.
The next event is scheduled for December 2021.
